Using Ribbons, Lace & Bows

Ribbons and lace are useful materials to add to muffs, cuffs and mats. The most important action is to secure what you use very firmly to the muff, cuff or mat base. This action will prevent the recipients pulling out the ribbon and the lace. But they can have fun redoing the bow.

Note that the zip tab has sharp points and should be covered to prevent harm to the recipient or others around them.
These ribbons are integrated into the crocheting to make them secure. Pattern is at https://www.projecttwiddles.com/flower-with-ribbon/

I like creating situations where I can thread ribbon through loops. I attach the ribbon so it can’t be pulled out but in this case I have left the bottom layers unfixed so the recipient can rethread.

Ribbons and lace are often found in opportunity shops and from friends and family.

Lace is a great texture to provide interest for restless hands but it needs careful checking as it can disintegrate and become a hazard.

Lace has been firmly attached to the top of the pocket.

Sometimes a chain can be securely attached and the recipient can redo a bow without the chain coming out.

Secure the ribbon, lace and chain and you have provided lot of sensory opportunities. Have fun

Happy creating everyone!
