Our second & final visit to the Niddrie branch took place in June, 2025. What a fabulous surprise Maia & I received. We returned with 134 twiddle creations in a suitcase and 16 more yet to be completed.
The total twiddle mats, cuffs and muffs donated to the Royal Melbourne is 240. This is approximately 700 hours of dedicated crafting.

These makers have been so creative and inventive. The most significant aspect of their work is how they have combined fabric with knitting and crochet. These twiddle creations are mainly sewn so are bright and cheerful. Lots of lace used and the fabrics display such interesting scenes. Often a twiddle item has been attached by using a sewing machine making it very firmly and securely attached to its base piece.
I am so grateful to these wonderful CWA women. We had such a fabulous time chatting to them. I have learnt a lot about making twiddle creations from a committed crafting group who had not made sensory items previously.
Sincere thanks to everyone, especially Sue who tirelessly worked on the project and drove the Niddrie Branch to achieve this incredible donation.
Happy creating everyone!
